NMSU needs better advertising. "No Limits. No Boundaries" sounds more like an awkward social situation than a recruiting slogan. Young adults want to be a part of something; NMSU should market the idea of community and challenge potential student recruits to become engaged in a culture/institution that solves the big picture problems faced by their generation.
Second, we need mechanisms that establish funded student research opportunity as a driver for recruitment, both at the graduate and undergraduate level. That task cannot rely solely on successful grant funding efforts by faculty.
